It’s not often that we get a glimpse into Halle Berry’s family life – so we’re extra charmed by these sweet photos of her 8-year-old son Maceo. Berry took to Instagram to share a trio of black and white pictures, featuring Maceo playing with a guitar. She accompanied one of the posts with the Bob Marley quote: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain…”

It looks like the world might have a new musical talent on its hands.

Berry has been cautious about sharing pictures of her son and 13-year-old daughter Nahla with the public. “I don’t want to plaster them all over the internet. That just doesn’t feel right for me,” Berry told TODAY in 2019. “They’re gonna do that soon enough. That’s gonna be their life when they grow up, and they will choose when that starts.”

She added: “I’ve fought really hard to protect their privacy.” Every once and awhile, she’ll offer a rare peek into their lives, like this cute Instagram tribute to Maceo on his 8th birthday. “This little dude is 8 today!” she wrote. “Happy Birthday THUNDER! ❤️”

When it comes to discussing motherhood, though, Berry is refreshingly candid and honest about some of the struggles she faces.

“I do find it’s sometimes hard to leave them and go away and do my job, clozapine overdose management ” she told PEOPLE in February. “And there’s this thing called mom guilt. I’m not so sure men feel it as quite deeply as we feel it as women, but I fight against that because I want my children to grow and know that they can be parents and they can have careers that they love at the same time.”

Berry went on to explain that, as a single mom and “the breadwinner in [her] family,” working is a necessity but also something she truly enjoys. “When I have to go away to work, I make a point of letting my children know, ‘Yes, I’m going because I have to afford our life, but I also love what I’m doing.’”
