Dr Amir: Tips for dealing with hair loss
From eating a lack of protein to intensive hair styling, there could be various triggers for hair loss.
However, certain warning signs could be pointing to abnormal hair shedding, according to Dr Amir Khan.

“All of those things could be indicating that you are losing more hair than it’s normal.”

He said: “There are simple things that we can all do – think about the number of times you are washing your hair.
“You shouldn’t be doing it more than once a day. Washing your hair strips it of its natural oils which are protective.
“Experts actually say, ‘You shouldn’t be washing your hair more than two or three times a week’.”
Another important factor when it comes to washing your hair is the temperature of the water.

However, the TV doctor recommended against any extreme temperatures.
He added: “Avoid very hot and very cold water. They are both damaging to hair and can again strip the hair and weaken it.”
Last but not least, your hair care shouldn’t include too much heat or heavy chemicals.
“Limit the amount of times you blow dry your hair, you straighten your hair, or use very severe chemicals on your hair,” Dr Amir said.
