Keke Palmer Found the One Positive Pregnancy Side Effect: Clear Skin!
The symptoms of pregnancy are far from a walk in the park. In fact, they’re more like a frantic wobble to the toilet. There’s the extreme morning sickness that Amy Schumer has made visible, the pain in the back and pressure on the belly, the frequent need to pee, and the kicks from the fetus. I mean, we like a hello from a growing soccer player, but can we get a little wave instead?
Well Keke Palmer, the icon who announced her pregnancy on Saturday Night Live and the role model who is choosing to rest, has found perhaps the one physical upside to pregnancy: clear skin.
Palmer posted on Instagram on Thursday to let her followers know she has found one of the few physical wins of pregnancy: clear skin. She said she knows it’s doesn’t look super obvious in the reel, given her full face of runway-ready makeup, but she promises her makeup has “never laid flat like this.”
“There’s no more bumps. There’s no more of the raise. And so I’m here to let y’all know that I found the secret. I found the secret to clearing up my acne and guess what it is: You need to get knocked up. Period. Point blank. Period.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for every mama-to-be. While some do get that clear-faced glow, others experience more pesky pimples and have to be sure to use treatments that are safe during pregnancy. That said, we are so happy for Palmer, who has opened up on Instagram about her Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis and what that has meant for her skin: “My acne has been so bad that people in my field offered to pay for me to get it fixed.”
Um…what?
“I tried EVERYTHING,” she said. “My skin has made me sad many nights but I do not give up on myself…To all the people struggling with this please know you’re not alone and that you are still so f*cking fine!”
This isn’t the last you’ll hear from our new favorite internet “dermatologist.” You can expect her to spill the tea on skin discoloration soon.
“Even with the discoloration — and we gonna get to the discoloration! There’s no more of the bumps.”
Palmer said she will keep her baby bump if it’s the key to keeping bumps off her face. She is not ready to give up that bonus.
“Call me Keke Wyatt,” Palmer said, referencing the singer-songwriter who has 11 children. “Cuz I’m about to be pregnant for the rest of my life!”
