NHS England said there were 465,000 vaccine appointments made on Wednesday and Thursday – while more than 4.5 million people had had a booster dose in England as of yesterday.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: “It is amazing to see the public step up to build our wall of defence against Covid.
“One of the most important things you can do this winter if eligible is to book your booster and flu vaccines to strengthen your immunity, reduce the risk of catching Covid-19 and stop yourself getting seriously ill.”
Mr Javid also announced more than five million boosters had been administered, with more than half of all over-80s in England receiving a third jab.
He said “the gap is narrowing” between the dominance of the virus and vaccine protection.
Those who do not receive an invitation for a booster within a week of becoming eligible, six months after a second jab, can try to book online or call 119.
